Last week I've started playing with SFO2 and I like it. It's definitely worth trying out, but if you have other preference than the authors, you might be better off with a bunch of smaller mods. On the other hand, it relies on you agreeing with the author's vision of the game. On one hand, it makes a wholesome experience with nice synergies between features etc. It does a lot of changes at the same time and makes a nice unified package out of them. Oh yea chaos is way more fun in SFO as well.Įdit: as a side-note to all my points you can get sub-mods to change many aspects of the mod and to incorporate alot of the more popular mods into the SFO format.īoth pro and con of SFO is that it's a total overhaul. I happen to love that final feature as nothing is more fun than marching archaon and 4 units of chaos chosen to altdorf and winning. I would read the full changelog which is on his steam page.Īs a general rule battles are slower, elite units tend to carve swaths through the regular infantry if used right, and characters can become unholy gods of combat. Changes to buildings, stats of pretty much every unit, skill trees to an extent, magic is rebalnced to be slightly more impactful (it was a much larger difference in WH1 when magic sucked some serious ass), and many more. Steel faith also has a multitude of minor changes. That can be countered by fighting vamps as a lord sniping battle followed by a brawl to finish the army. Lords like vlad can become nigh invincible and armies can deathball heal almost ad infinium or at least until they run out of Winds. However it does make factions like vamp counts truly broken in the hands of a shrewd player. I personally agree with this since at no point should a troll stop healing (bar fire damage but oh well they have a perfectly fine mechanic for simulating fire damage) nor should a necromancers magic stop binding souls. Some more controversial changes are the removal of the healing cap. In vanilla id probably cycle them out eventually for black guard or executioners depending who im fighting.

I use bleakswords as my dark elf frontline throughout the whole game in SFO. Most units will remain viable at all points in the game.

It also means making a frontline of elites is less efficient sometimes and slightly encourages having basic units in the army as well.

This helps create that feel of importance to the units and to compensate most elite units have buffed stats compared to vanilla. Some of the popular ones are making elite units smaller sizes. Now some of this people like some people dont like these changes. This means it should feel like warhammer and for the most part it does nail that. It focuses on creating a closer to lore atmosphere in the game map. Pros and cons im assuming compared to base game.
